Computer Science for K-8 Level |
As part of TeachIT for K-8 grade level initiative, Priti created lesson plans to teach fundamentals of database, Binary number system, Internet components, Advanced use of Microsoft office tools like Word, Spreadsheets, Image and Video editing etc. Based on existing concept of Powerpoint-museum, Priti also created pamphlet for creating keynote-museum. Further she conducted after-school enrichment for middle school students, and teachers also attended these classes - since they had recently shifted from Apple iBook to Dell Windows based PCs.

Education Philosophy |
Priti enabled Academy of Academic Excellence (AAE) to spread its wings by providing the concept and draft template of the curriculum brochure for prospective parents. She also helped the small school to define direction of its technology introduction and enabled its teachers to incorporate new tools available online, like audacity, animoto, word processing etc. in their regular instruction, so that the students are abreast of latest technologies available online at their level.

Yoga for
|
Priti has been teaching Yoga to children at AAE for 7 years straight and then intermittently since 2003. She has created a booklet for the students and she also worked with their music and art teacher to create a comprehensive presentation. As a result of learning yoga, these kids are flexible and know how to center themselves when they are excited.

World History

Priti worked with the middle school teachers at a local IB school to enrich their curricular learning. When the art teacher was teaching about series of miniature paintings from India to 6th graders, Priti weaved the subject of those paintings in a dance presentation in collaboration with the teacher and presented it to students. When the history teacher was teaching India in the world history for 8th graders, Priti presented a 'Experience India' workshop for the students, where they learned about Indian arts, food, culture and clothing.

Priti has taught Indian Classical Dance style, Bharatanatyam since 2005 to children and adults. Being a teacher implies that you become a life long student too. She has enhanced her basic training by attending various residential workshops and 3-4 day workshops with visiting Master teachers from India. Priti brought three of her students to the level of Arangetram, a debut performance, and is continuing to be an inspiring teacher for all her students. She aspires to continue to instill the discipline, dedication and devotion in her dance student along with working knowledge of traditional mythological stories with their modern interpretations.
